Dohdal cannot achieve its mission without the generous support of donors and we will be always grateful for any support given. Donors can donate to a particular project or just make a general donation that will be used to support all of the programs. Dohdal sends out a newsletter once a quarter to all of its donors. In this way, you can keep in touch with the project and maybe pass it on to your friends! It is not all about money however and some of the many different ways you can help us are shown below.

1. If you are planning a visit to Cambodia
Many people are concerned by the corruption in Cambodia (and so are we!) so if you are planning to visit the country we suggest that you visit us and check out the project first hand. The school is around 50 km from Phnom Penh and can be accessed by tuk tuk or taxi (one day round trip will cost around US$30 for tuktuk and $60 for taxi). To ensure the education of the children is not affected by an uncontrolled stream of visitors however, you must book in advance.
Once you have visited the school, it will be up to you to decide if you want to donate cash or in kind. You will never be asked to sponsor a child or provide any support to the project, but many of our visitors feel that they want to help. If you do, just speak to Sophanet.
Remember that you can volunteer your time and expertise so if you think you might have a skill that will help Dohdol grow, please contact us and we can discuss a program especially designed to meet your needs.
2. If you are not planing a visit but would like to help
If you want to help, but are not planning a visit to Cambodia, it will need a leap of faith on your part- all we can do is ask that you trust us. If you want to help, then cash donations are preferred.
Dohdal does not encourage donors to send individual items such as clothes, shoes, toys etc. The cost of sending these items from overseas is a lot more than purchasing them in locally Phnom Penh. Anyway, we would prefer to buy these items locally in Cambodia because this improve local businesses which increases local jobs and makes country less dependent foreign aid.
We are always in need of educational materials like text books, exercise books, pens, pencils, stickers coloring books, art materials, printing papers, coloring papers, toothbrushes, toothpastes, soaps etc. Most of these items can be bought cheaply in local markets.
3. Corporate Support
Dohdal also welcomes financial support from corporate donors. In exchange, corporate donors are acknowledged on a commemorative plaque with the name of your company and date. We also write you a formal letter of appreciation.
